Conveniently located in the financial district and a stone's throw away from the shops, Klapsons is one of Singapore’s true boutique hotels.
An open space lobby greets you on arrival with an elevated check in platform best described as a futuristic white bubble that throws your voice. If you aren't used to it, it can catch you a little off guard. Boasting express check in, it wasn't long before I was shown up to my room.
Each of the 17 rooms are individually designed, so no two rooms are exactly alike. Contemporary in style with splashes of colour, the mood lighting will ease any weary traveller into relaxation. Each room offers every accessory required to keep the modern traveller happy and I can't imagine anyone would want for gadgets, with an in room safe, a Nespresso coffee machine, an iPod dock, a pillow menu and if you are lucky enough to stay in a suite, a private jacuzzi. Being a smoker I opted for a corner room that offered an outside bamboo enclosed garden with a large outdoor shower. Perfect for cooling off when the humidity gets a little too much.
For those looking to inject a bit of glamour into your stay, head up to the 17th floor, soak up the atmosphere and sample the cocktails at Fabrika. The hotel's alfresco sky terrace bar is the perfect setting for sundowners after a day out exploring the city and on weekends you’ll find DJ's spinning tunes. For dinner, Lucas forms the hotel’s flagship restaurant serving classically-inspired contemporary European cuisine. Travelling alone I didn’t venture for a solo dinner but I can say the room service is excellent- quick to deliver and the standard of the food was second to none.
Klapsons is modern hotel with a contemporary twist, it doesn't fuss too much over design and the open space makes the hotel feel bigger than it is. Breakfast was superb, the staff are friendly and the rooms are big on comfort and amenities. For the boutique lover this really does get top marks.
