Special offer description:
When checking into the hotel mention Stylebible on arrival for a complimentary glass of bubbles.
Situated in the shadow of the Forbes House on Halkin Street, The Halkin Hotel is sits just a stone’s throw from Buckingham Palace. It’s well situated in between Knightbridge, Hyde Park, Victoria and Green Park/Picadilly. If you’re a business man/woman, serious shopper or just seriously into high quality digs when you’re in town then may I suggest you reside in the Halkin (or equally luxurious sister property The Metropolitan) next time you’re in London.
The fact that it won London’s Best Small Hotel Award in 2005 says something about the detail-oriented service and superior design you encounter in the hotel. The hallways are hands-down the coolest part of this place. On a night out in the town you would be hard pressed to find your door let alone your door knob in this uniform sea of black slatted wood.
And there’s also the restaurant Nahm (it’s Thai, not Vietnamese. Don’t worry) and its Michelin stars. You don’t even have to leave the lobby to get a gourmet meal.
Our suite was immaculate. They boast the largest (marble-lined) bathrooms in London. I soaked in the massive tub while the audio to the movie playing in our room was piped through the surround sound speakers in the bathroom (nb: the towels are scratchy, not like the fluffy bits of cloud you would expect in such an establishment).
The fixtures and fittings are all integrated into the design, and there’s a touch pad worked into the sleek wood walls. No surprise that the cool interiors are designed by Italian, Edith Leschke, of Milanese Studio Laboratorio Associati.
The mini bar is deluxe (and very steep in price) and the sitting area is lovely and spacious. We had wall to wall windows facing the Forbes House but we also had black out curtains if we didn’t want to see anything at all.
Breakfast and coffee were lovely and the staff are all very attentive, including those working 24-hour room service. The attention to detail is the kind you only find in 5-star establishments in London, Tokyo, Dubai and Hong Kong.
