From the outside it doesn't look much, as a friend told me who lived near it, I walked past it a thousand times before word of mouth reached her and she made her way down there.
Located on a roundabout, you'd be forgiven for thinking you'd gone to the wrong place, but the long queues are the first indication that this is a popular place. Once in (which means paying an £8 door charge), you'll find a speakeasy-subterranean bar with live jazz and blues.
As a venue it’s great for a date, the place has an old school glamour about it and it does well in the effortless cool stakes, equally it’s a fun night out with friends. If you need something to soak up the cocktails there is a great tapas menu with a few Spanish favourites, but the highlight of the night is the cocktails, or if spirits are your poison, you'll find some rare gems.
If you are drinking in East London, a stop here should definitely make the itinerary. Just make sure you book online as this little gem is no longer hidden and with that comes advance bookings and charges if you don't show up.
