Despite opening in 2003, Marquee is still top of the New York club scene and is often the venue for movie premieres and rock star parties.
Found in Chelsea, Marquee is an uber cool club, Tuesday night is the night to go - the club always it draws in a serious fashion and celebrity crowd (we're talking everyone from Mick Jagger to Stevie Wonder, Leonardio de Caprio to P Diddy you get my drift) so make sure you are on the guest list in advance.
If you aren't on the guest list before you arrive it is worth knowing that the doorman (nicknamed The Hammer) doesn't always turn people away, being polite, dressing well and having the right attitude may get you past the velvet ropes.
Table service can't be faulted, they average at $2000 and friendly staff bring you bottles of whatever your heart desires along with a great selection of mixers. The night we went we got through a 175cl bottle of Grey Goose Vodka and two litre bottles of Absolut but if regular bottles aren't your thing you can pre order and put in special requests, although judging by how well stocked the bar is, it seems there is little that they don't already have.
The interior was inspired by a ski lodge in the James Bond movie Goldfinger, there are three main rooms (celebrities prefer room three), there is also a VIP area and a handy little back door for the smokers.
The New York editor is often to be found partying there.
