Brasserie Harkema is housed in a former tobacco factory. The space now transformed into a contemporary version of the classic Parisian brasserie.
The restaurant has been a long standing favourite in Amsterdam and is often recommended by hotel concierges. The interiors are beautiful and lend well to dates and special occasions, the place attracts a young and trendy crowd which often means there is a good atmosphere and in addition to being reasonably priced, its open for lunch and dinner daily making it the perfect meeting spot.
The food is creative, the presentation is beautiful and the seasonal produce make for perfectly cooked fresh dishes. There is good news for vegetarians too, which a good selection of non meat dishes. If you don't fancy the whole sit-down experience then there is a great bar space that offers the perfect position for people watching.
A solid choice for a meal out in Amsterdam, my only grumble is that on occasion the service is a little slow.
