Situated in idyllic surroundings on Dubai Creek, next to the world famous Dubai Creek Golf Course, Amara is a haven of tranquillity and a sanctuary of luxury.

The white exterior and blue dome are a tribute to the ancient Moorish Palaces and have an instantly calming effect. An exotic array of rituals have been created here to stimulate the senses, soothe and to rejuvenate.

Amara Spa houses eight very spacious luxury treatment suites, including three couples suites. Each is complete with its own walled garden, with pretty flowers and outdoor shower.
The Spa follows the ancient healing philosophies of Ruby, Emerald, Sapphire and Diamond. These precious jewels each have their own spiritual and physical benefits and each spa journey experience is tailored completely to your own requirements.

My journey began with a rose petal foot ritual in the private garden at the back of my treatment room. Having selected the music to accompany my treatment (a wonderful idea given my growing distaste for pan pipes), I relaxed into my full body aromatherapy massage. With healing properties of juniper, grapefruits and pine essential oils, I was soon feeling silky smooth and relaxed. My masseuse was informative of the products that she was using and their intended effects. She also altered the pressure of her movements as and when requested. The treatment ended with a rain shower in my private garden and an invigorating cup of ginger tea in the relaxation area. I always find it so hard to leave the relaxation areas, and the abundance of Arabic nibbles (nuts and dried fruits), comfy bed and plentiful supply of magazines made this no exception.

For a special occasion, the Journeys are a unique four or five hour experience. They don’t come cheap at just under AED2,000 but this does include lunch and beverages. You can opt to split your five hour journey up into sections throughout the day, perhaps the rose petal foot and hand bath, Dead Sea salt bath and Thai Massage before an hour or so by the pool. The reflexology, Indian Head massage, illuminating facial and ear candling can all be done in the afternoon after a healthy lunch. It’s totally up to you.

It’s well worth making a day of it when you visit Amara; They gymnasium is well equipped and the steam room has a variety of salts outside for you to exfoliate with. The pool is serene and beautiful with ultra-comfortable beds dotted amongst the swaying palm trees.

I am already planning my next journey!
